Il rigore e la grazia
Nuove prospettive sul Barocco fiorentino
The exhibition set up in the rooms adjacent to the Palatine Chapel of Palazzo Pitti recovers the treasure of art that belonged to what was the most prestigious secular company of religious inspiration of the seventeenth century Tuscany, San Benedetto Bianco. The history and spirituality of this brotherhood are made known to the public through the analysis of the major artistic masterpieces that furnished their spaces and, for this occasion, literally ¿saved' by demanding restorations. The study of the collection, texts and documents has seen the emergence of important innovations that redefine some aspects of the Florentine Baroque: both for the unpublished works found, both for the deepening of the features of many great artists who were assiduous members of San Benedetto Bianco (eg Cristofano Allori, Vincenzo Dandini, Carlo Dolci and Volterrano).
