The volume illustrates the technological perspectives on the building techniques, as well as a detailed historical reconstruction of the events which followed the enterprise, including the extraordinary invention of special machineries and other devices developed by the Maestro to make it possible.

The book is comprised of a study concerning the exact location of Brunelleschi's house, and one about the now closed mine of Cupola of Poggio of Trassinaia, and a History of the Cathedral based on the documents published by Cesare Guasti.

Lastly, the presentation of the extensive studies on the Cupola through its grand-scale model (1:5) installed in the Parco dell'Anconella in Florence and which enabled to verify the artisanal perspective, the "constructing rule" hypothesized.
