The catalogue aims to offer to the public the strong bond existing since Prehistory between man and horse in different aspects: mythology, daily life, sports, military activities, funerary and rituals.

From the first representations on the walls of prehistoric caves to the use of the stirrup during the Middle Ages, the horse represents a friend for man, a sign of social prestige, and a symbol of political power.

The book illustrates the thousand-year relationship between man and animal thanks to an articulated variety of objects, coming from the main Italian and foreign archaeological museums and dated between the tenth century BC and the fifteenth century AD: statues, urns, reliefs, vases, terracotta, harnesses that will help the visitor retrace the evolution of "technology" linked to the use of the horse.
