Rivista "Codice 602" - 2024

This special issue of the journal ‘Codice 602’ is a tribute to the music and figure of Giacomo Puccini. Through an original, dynamic and diversified musicological point of view, issue no. 15 of ‘Codice 602’ in the year 2024, the centenary of Giacomo Puccini's death, is entirely dedicated to the figure of the composer born in Lucca in 1858.

The ‘Luigi Boccherini’ Conservatory, formerly the ‘Pacini’ Institute, where the young Giacomo took his first steps in the world of music, not only preserves the memory of the composer, but also his roots, as well as his musical and cultural heritage.

This provides a further significant opportunity to enhance with new musicological studies not only the melodic and dramaturgical aspects, but also the interdisciplinary and intercultural influences that marked the production of the Maestro from Lucca.

In this issue, the in-depth study focuses on the intertwining of tradition and modernity, symbolism and psychological analysis, the aesthetics of realism and that of irony, through 11 short essays that contribute to a greater, more profound, emotional and stratified understanding of Puccini's work.
