Masaccio is a very important figure in the shift from late gothic to Renaissance art. This one, so close to naturalism and prospective, is reconstructed starting from the Sant'Anna Metterza in the Uffizi, through the artist's works in the museums and on the territory (Uffizi, Horne Museum, Santa Maria del Carmine, Santa Maria Novella….) and through the comparison with those works present in other Italian State collections (Pisa and Naples).
The book is thus a simple, rigorous and at the same time fascinating guide to Masaccio's creative path.
