I Tesori delle Contrade di Siena

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena MPS, its Deputation decided to produce a publication dedicated to what best represents Siena's identity: the Contrade, directly involving the Contradaioli and the museums of the 17 Consorelle, custodians of their most authentic history.

The publication, edited by Laura Bonelli, gathers contributions and a rich heritage of unpublished images that highlight the artistic heritage, traditions, rituals and symbolic places of each Contrada, emphasising how these elements represent a cultural wealth that transcends time and borders. 

The Contrade are presented as true communities of practice, examples of shared identity and transmission of memory.

The publication is intended as a gift to the city and to scholars, celebrating the Fondazione's thirtieth anniversary and promoting the beauty and civic value that characterise Siena. 

The text concludes with thanks to all those who contributed to the project and who keep the history and emotions of the Contrade alive every day.
