Giovanni Gasparro. Passioni in Campo

Passioni in Campo is the title of the exhibition on Giovanni Gasparro, one of the major contemporary authors selected as the painter of the Drappellone of the Palio of Siena of 2 July 2024, dedicated to the Madonna di Provenzano. For the occasion, the Municipality of Siena wanted to dedicate an exhibition to the painter from Bari and his versatile art with the aim of highlighting its profound content.

It is impossible not to be fascinated by the ‘rag painted with light and gold’ and his new way of representing the divine: inspired by the realist painting of artists of the calibre of Caravaggio and Guercino, he has the merit of renewing sacred painting with an absolutely personal and passionate interpretation.

The catalogue is enriched with a large section devoted to large-format reproductions of works by the artist not exhibited in Siena, with religious as well as private themes.

His works can be found in important public and private collections in Europe and the USA, as well as in various churches and basilicas in Italy (Siena, Trani, Rome, Turin, Gallipoli and L'Aquila) and abroad (Malta, Switzerland, Greece, Austria and the USA).
