Siena, Complesso museale Santa Maria della Scala
17 October 2024 – 30 March 2025
CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE
The catalogue and exhibition curated by Luca Quatrocchi, a professor at the University of Siena, aims to illustrate one of the richest private collections of art between the First World War and the 1960s.
Moreover, the acquisition of the private collection of Cesare Brandi (a great connoisseur and collector of artists of the period) makes this one of the most remarkable art collections in Italy. These artists are seen as stars belonging to luminous constellations in the Italian panorama.
Among the 119 pieces on display are works by Renato Guttuso, Sadun, Afro, Rosai, Burri, Tosi, Depero and Levi, featuring gentle landscapes and ethereal faces, settings of introspective interiors and crowds of bodies and movements.
