The “liquid continent”: history, beauty, peoples and myths  

The Mediterranean, the great inland sea called the Sea between the lands in the Romance languages, the White Sea by the Turks and Mare Nostrum by the Romans, so charged with history, is presented, today as yesterday, as a meeting and clashing point of great civilizations.

Here different cultures face each other, which gave birth to great civilizations and served as the leaven of the great Mediterranean culture, in which contamination and preservation of their original traits, fusion and distinction, generate even today a unicum that is unmatched in any other area of the planet. 

This long and complex history is told through the extraordinarily unprecedented satellite images obtained from the most advanced space technology: photos, videos and immersive installations of unique emotional impact, with the intention of combining science and art, past and present, in a way that is both rigorous and accessible to all. 

The exhibition itinerary and the images presented in the publication also deal with topical issues, such as climate change and the processes of desertification and cementification, but without ever forgetting the fruitful confrontation of such diverse voices, languages and scents in search of a common denominator that will help solve the great problems that still beset this ancient sea.
