Mino Trafeli: Being Modern/Becoming Contemporary 1968-1947, is the third chapter of an exhibition program dedicated to Mino Trafeli (1922-2018) celebrating the centenary of the birth of an artist who interwove his creative vision with the soul of his hometown, Volterra, in an innovative way.

Curated by art critic and Trafeli's long-standing collaborator Marco Tonelli, and the artist's daughter and head of the Trafeli Archive, Marta Trafeli, the exhibition retraces the early years (1947–1968) of Mino Trafeli's career. This was a pivotal period during which the artist transitioned from figuration to modernity, ultimately reaching the threshold of postmodernism and contemporaneity.

The exhibition is not only a tribute to his genius, but also an opportunity to reflect on his connection with Volterra, which has inspired and hosted his incessant artistic research.

The exhibition pays tribute to his genius and provides an opportunity to reflect on his connection with Volterra, a city that inspired and hosted his tireless artistic endeavours.

Mino Trafeli knew how to be modern and become contemporary, leaving an indelible mark on the history of art and the city of Volterra.
