Chimere Contemporanee / Contemprary Chimeras

Forty years after the “ Progetto Etruschi”, the exhibition Contemporary Chimeras marks a new season of events dedicated to the fortune of ancient Etruria. The sculptures by Silvano Porcinai, a Tuscan artist born in Grassina and always a refined interpreter of the Etruscan plastic tradition, dialogue with the finds of the Museo alle Origini del Chianti, blending myth and contemporaneity.

Inspired by the legendary Chimera of Arezzo, a masterpiece and symbol of Etruscan art, Porcinai reinterprets its archaic power through bronzes, terracottas, and waxes that evoke the metamorphoses and anxieties of the present. An essential and vigorous language transforms myth into a reflection on human nature and its shadows.

The exhibition, curated by Marco Firmati, Francesca Petrucci, and Cristina Sanna, is part of the Etruschi 85/25 project, promoted by the Region of Tuscany, the Fondazione Musei Senesi, and the Associazione Musei Archeologici della Toscana.
