The chisel and the lens: a different art, but still visionary

A catalogue documenting the tribute to Michelangelo's genius through a journey into the Carrara exhibition at the CARMI Museum, with a selection of photographs on display in Florence at Palazzo Strozzi. This is a unique and intense tribute to the art of the divine artist, whose 550th birthday is being celebrated this year, and at the same time it is a further demonstration of the extraordinary heritage preserved in the Fratelli Alinari Archive: photography that is art capable of enhancing art. The two exhibitions have been created by selecting some significant episodes from the photographic production of the Alinari, Brogi and Anderson Archives, which form the core of what is now the photographic heritage of the Alinari Archives. For over a century, starting in the mid-19th century, these three archives made a fundamental contribution to the international dissemination of Italian art and, therefore, of Michelangelo's work.
