Premio Combat 2017 Prize
VIII EDITION 24 June - 15 July 2015
Museo Civico “Giovanni Fattori” - Ex Granai di Villa Mimbelli
via San Jacopo in Acquaviva, 65/71 - Livorno
piazzale dei Marmi - Livorno
Contemporary art reflects our identity and, at the same time, is fundamental in order to have a vision of the future of our culture, society and economy. Persevering in promoting and enhancing it without ever stopping is the goal we have set for ourselves as an association, convinced that becoming one with our mission, with courage and awareness in facing a difficult path having an unpredictable outcome, prepares us for a future that, in any event, will be successful.
The COMBAT PRIZE, in its eighth edition this year, is the result of this passion, and its objective is to promote artists, give them an opportunity for growth and exposure. The 1,200 participants, from 54 countries around the world, who took part this year bear witness to a project that has grown over time and which today represents a valued and valid platform for comparison in Italy. The juries, which have changed over the years and have even included collectors, curators and museum directors, are not only active and esteemed by their colleagues, but have sealed the success of this project and joined the public and private spheres in full respect of their mutual differences.
This edition stands out because it introduces a new opportunity aimed at supporting and consolidating the research of the winning artists. In fact, in addition to the monetary prize and the very prestigious Fattori Contemporaneo Prize – conceived by the City administration with the goal of historicizing the investigations of an artist through an exhibition in the Granai di Villa Mimbelli (the former Granary) and the inclusion in its own collection – the Tracker Art was established. Four artists under 35, selected from among the prize finalists, will become part of the LUCCA ART FAIR programme with a curatorial project that will be shown at this event in Tuscany, thus contributing to positioning and improving their exposure on the art scene and increasing their competitiveness on the art market.
The hope is to create an adequate tool, able to make an important contribution to Italy’s art scene. Many thanks to all the artists who have taken part. This initiative would have been impossible without them.
