The volume traces the life of the internationally renowned German sculptor FRITZ KOENIG (Wurzburg, 20 June 1924 - Landshut, 22 February 2017).
Koenig was the author of the famous Sphere placed in the square between the two Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, which is now in Liberty Park in memory of the victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
His work focuses on figures or geometric shapes assembled using materials such as metal and wood.
The representation of the human form is stylized using spherical shapes for the heads and cylinders for bodies and limbs.
His major works include the Memorial of the Mauthausen concentration camp (1983) and the one for the massacre during the Munich Olympics (1972).
