The exhibition La Città del Sole. Arte barocca e pensiero scientifico nella Roma di Urbano VIII (The City of the Sun. Baroque Art and Scientific Thought in the Rome of Urban VIII) convincingly illustrates the marvellous Baroque machine that links art, science, theatre, music, philosophy, in a system impossible to understand without a global vision.

This is the theme of the exhibition dedicated to the 'City of the Sun', the Rome of Urban VIII, where some of the most creative minds of European culture converged, illustrious men who in deference to the pontiff were called 'Urban Bees': scientists and philosophers such as Galileo Galilei and Tommaso Campanella, naturalists and encyclopaedists such as Federico Cesi and Athanasius Kircher, mathematicians and scholars of optics such as Emmanuel Maignan and Jean-François Niceron, and then painters, sculptors and architects who were particularly attentive to the suggestions of scientific dialogue, such as Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Pietro da Cortona and Francesco Borromini.

The short guide summarises in Italian and English the themes of the exhibition and illustrates the route through the main works, a selection of the over one hundred works on display.
