Le ceramiche / The ceramics
Attraverso il Novecento. Le collezioni del Museo di Palazzo Davanzati / Through the 20th Century. The collections of the Museum of Palazzo Davanzati
This book adds a new chapter to our knowledge and appreciation of the Museum of Palazzo Davanzati thanks to a concept developed by the Director Brunella Teodori, who has planned this volume on ceramics as the first in a series on the museum’s collections.
First section: the history of the museum from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day, with specific focus on the ceramics collections over time.
Second section: a topographic guide to the works on display with updated information and new attributions based on recent studies.
Appendix: the history of the tableware collections told through the use of the ceramic objects over the centuries, with a short glossary.
Everyone can enjoy this book, not just people who have studied the genre. It will be especially useful for keen visitors to the house museum and enthusiasts of ceramics, a specific sector of applied arts that is very present in our daily lives. It will be a lasting tool for all visitors to the museum along with tablet screens and the table set up with objects for blind and partially sighted people as educational aids for young and disabled visitors, whom Palazzo Davanzati is now better equipped to welcome.
