MARCO WAS A VERY CURIOUS BOY WHO DREAMED OF BECOMING AN ARCHAEOLOGIST WHEN HE GREW UP
This book was created to share with young children the archaeological adventure at the Roman villa of Aiano, discovered in 2005.
The villa, dated to the fourth century AD, has been the subject of annual excavations by a group of Italian-Belgian researchers.
Aiano is a place already well known to both the scientific community and the general public, but a work dedicated to the youth of tomorrow, who are the recipients of this playfully conceived volume, was missing.
This project is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of San Gimignano, the University of Leuven, the Soprintendenza Archeologica, and other institutions that have all worked to preserve and promote the villa.
The archaeological heritage is also on display in new rooms of the Santa Chiara Museum Complex in San Gimignano, where important finds from the excavations are shown.
The initiative is an example of collaboration for the collective good, now also targeted at new generations.
