The Miniature

This book is a simple but in-depth tool to approach and get to know the fascinating and somehow mysterious world of miniature. From the preparation of the parchment, to the booklet binding and finally to the writing and decorating technique, all the phases of the creation of the ancient book are carefully studied and richly illustrated by drawings and photos. After examining the tools, inks and colours, the book ends with a significant series of important examples of miniated codices, from the Divine Comedy to The Life of Lorenzo the Magnificent.

The author, Maria Paola Masini, has been for long involved for the Educational Division of Florence Museum System Superintendence.
