The portrait of a bohemian painter, the first author of social chronicles
This publication pays homage to the painter Angiolo Tommasi (1858-1923), whose centenary of death has just passed. For this occasion, resources have been made available from the Ghigo Tommasi Archives - A.G.T. - which preserve family documents of great value.
This monograph reveals the intense and adventurous life of Angiolo Tommasi, a painter in the Macchiaioli tradition, the first author of social chronicles, highly appreciated in Europe and South America, a friend of Giacomo Puccini, Pietro Mascagni and Enrico Caruso.
Alessandra Rey Tommasi is presenting photographs and unpublished works, retracing some fundamental family anecdotes and recounting the artist's relationships with personalities of the time that reveal the fascinating character, with a forward-looking gaze, of a man much loved by his contemporaries.
