UPDATED EDITION 2019
This guide steers the visitor through a path marked by the rare, yet supreme testaments to Da Vinci's pictorial art, all currently in the Uffizi. It begins with an authoritative reading of the masterpiece, Adoration of the Magi, expressly and masterfully formulated for this edition. It then continues with the recently restored altarpiece of the Baptism of Christ, performed in the workshop of Il Verrocchio, Da Vinci's teacher, with whom he likely collaborated in its execution. Another collaborative work dealt with in depth is the altarpiece, Pala della Signoria (also known as Pala degli Otto), executed largely by Filippino Lippi, but whose upper portions bears the unmistakable touch of the master's hand. This brief, but uniquely memorable course through Da Vinci's art closes with his recently restored masterpiece, The Annunciation.
"Readings and itineraries" is a carefully thought out guidebook series on some of the greatest artists of all time.
Beginning with each author's main work, a course is plotted throgh the museums, churches and sites wherever the artist's masterpieces may be found.
