Il Palazzo Bichi Ruspoli all'arco de' Rossi

The historical, artistic and cultural heritage of Palazzo Bichi Ruspoli, in the heart of Siena, represents an absolute value to the city.

Under the guidance of the curator Carlo Nepi, the essays by Marina Gennari, Marilena Caciorgna, Ilaria Bichi Ruspoli and Graziella Palei explore some topics that are different but complementary to each other, related to the history and evolution of Palazzo Bichi Ruspoli, all supported by important archival documentary research, material analysis, artistic attributions and results of restoration work.

The basic idea of the volume is to provide an instrument of knowledge of one of the most paradigmatic and representative buildings in Siena that holds together the scientific rigour of the research with the attractiveness of the story. For this reason, an apparatus of images (archival documents, drawings and ancient plans, as well as sophisticated technical-photographic reliefs) has been conceived not only to accompany the essays but as a real autonomous learning tool. The large plates that close the volume allow the reading and understanding of the most minute details of the architecture and the pictorial and decorative works of this beautiful palace.
