Maurizio Biagini, the rebellious monochrome painter
Born in Livorno in 1964 Maurizio Biagini starts to paint at 10; his father is a painter himself, Gianfranco Biagini. His first paintings are merely post-macchiaioli, but his real passion towards Pop Art and engraving developed a few years later. His artistic path brought him to curiously look for new materials to use( sand, tar, paper) and different execution speeds. Maurizio's main talents are two: his gestural art and an unprecedented ability to be concise. The appealing power of his work becomes a monochrome associated to a careful study of colors.
The book is diveded in three sections: the open and common spaces of Livorno, the monument of "Quattro Mori" and the portrait of the people of Livorno, from Modigliani to the woman selling bread at the market, to the pizza guy, to the deejay... this is the LIVORNO APPROXIMATELY by Maurizio Biagini.
